v8.4.0 September 21, 2026

8.4.0 is about consistency: events, devices, and drag-and-drop sessions now behave the same way on every booth and every PC. It also clears up the Windows Media Player warning, fixes screen setup on mirror and portrait installations, and settles the jitter on the Select Layout screen.

Drag and Drop

  • Fixed an issue where dropping photos into the booth started a GIF session instead of a print session when both session buttons were enabled.
  • Dropped files are now judged against the session they actually belong to, rather than against whatever session was run last, so drops no longer get rejected or trimmed after the first session of the day.
  • Rejection and truncation messages now report the photo count the booth actually applied, so the number on screen matches what happens next.
  • Added detailed logging of every drag-and-drop decision, so a drop that does not behave as expected can be diagnosed from a customer log instead of in person.

Events and Cloud Sync

  • Lock button opacity now travels with the welcome screen design, so it survives duplicating an event in the dashboard or downloading it onto a second PC.
  • Opening an event created in a newer version of the app now shows a clear notice rather than silently misreading settings.
  • Events saved on Windows are once again marked with a version that other booth apps and the dashboard understand, so an event shared across platforms is no longer treated as newer than it is.
  • Resolved a case where syncing or downloading an event could produce broken links for its templates, overlays, and stickers when the app had not yet confirmed which account was signed in.

Screen Setup and Displays

  • Corrected the layout screen so template thumbnails settle into place instead of shifting back and forth when choosing a template.
  • The Screen Editor now finds this computer's displays when no device list is available, so screen orientation can be set on magic mirror and portrait installations.
  • Screen orientation now defaults to match the display you selected, saving a step during setup.
  • Display resolutions in the device picker now match what the online dashboard and Windows Settings show, so a scaled monitor is no longer listed with two different sizes.

Video and Media

  • Resolved the "install Windows Media Player" warning that appeared at startup on Windows 11 machines where Media Player was already installed and videos played fine.
  • GIF and video handling no longer depends on the language Windows is running in, fixing missing thumbnails and stalled GIF and video uploads on non-English systems.

Devices and Licensing

  • Improved how each PC is identified, so machines built from identical hardware no longer share a device ID with hundreds of unrelated customers, which affected activation and paid session delivery.
  • Device identity is now stored more securely and resists interruptions during setup, with a repair attempt before a machine is locked out.
  • A single unreadable setting no longer resets the whole settings file; only the affected value is skipped.

Payments

  • Payments now connect over an encrypted connection, so session and guest email details are no longer readable on shared venue WiFi.
  • Payment confirmations are now routed to the correct account even when they are sent after the fact, and repeated connection failures surface a clear connectivity message instead of retrying silently.

Printing

  • Updated the print settings wording so the copies question and dropdown read as plain descriptions.
  • The guest print dialog now reads top to bottom, with the caption centered under the number and the Print button below it, and long custom wording wraps instead of being cut off.
  • Corrected the Portuguese default caption for copies, which previously read as "Send SMS".

Diagnostics and Support

  • Crash and error reports from camera operations now carry the original point of failure, which makes camera issues far faster to diagnose.
  • Uploaded logs now keep every line of an entry, including exception details and the full startup hardware summary, instead of dropping longer lines.
  • Photo metadata is now read reliably even when a file is read in pieces.
