Touchpix built its name on 360 booths and roaming photography, and it is genuinely good at both. LumaBooth covers 360 too, and adds a print-first workflow, Windows, and a much lower price for one or two devices.

Check which tier you actually need
Touchpix limits simultaneous active events, not devices, and its entry plan is photos only. If you sell video, boomerangs or 360 clips, PhotoPass at $439.90 will not do it and the real comparison is MultiPass at $879.99 a year. LumaBooth includes video on the $216 plan.
Count the events you run at the same time, not the devices you own. That is the number Touchpix prices on, and it is a genuinely good model if you run several booths on the same Saturday. Two simultaneous events on PhotoPass is $439.90 a year against $216 for LumaBooth with video included, so on a small operation LumaBooth is roughly half. Run four or more booths at once and Touchpix's pricing works harder than the headline suggests.

Touchpix shipped direct USB printing in 5.14.8. The comparison has moved to printers and sizes.

Touchpix added direct USB printing in version 5.14.8, driving the printer straight from an M-series iPad with no Mac and no print server. Any comparison telling you Touchpix needs a print server is out of date, including an earlier draft of this one.
So both print direct, and the differences are narrower and more specific. LumaBooth drives 16 printers, Touchpix 12. They cover two Citizen models we do not, the CW-01 and CW-02, which are an older Citizen line also sold as the Olmec OP900 and OP900II. Worth knowing that the Citizen CX-02, CX-02W and CZ-01 on both lists are simply the Citizen badges of the DNP DS620, DS820 and QW410, so those are the same printers counted twice on both sides. We cover four more DNP bodies, including the DS620A and DS-RX1HS, and we are the only one of the two that drives a HiTi at all.
The sharper difference is sizes. Touchpix's direct printing tops out at 6x8: 6x4, 6x4 split, 5x3.5, 5x7, 6x6 and 6x8. LumaBooth reads the loaded ribbon and offers everything it supports up to 8x12, plus 6x14, 6x20, 8x22 and 8x32 panoramas in one continuous pass. If you sell an 8x10, an 8x12 or a jumbo strip, that is the line.
One more requirement worth catching: their driver needs an M-series iPad, and their own announcement says A-series iPads and iPhones cannot run it. Ours needs an Apple silicon iPad too, and also runs from a Mac.
One detail that gets overlooked: HiTi. Snappic and Touchpix both print direct over USB now, and neither drives a HiTi, nor does anyone else on these pages. If you run a P525L or a P520L, LumaBooth is the only option here that talks to it at all.

Both run on Android, and both cover iOS and Android on a single subscription. On LumaBooth the same plan also covers Mac, and your two devices can be any mix of iPad, iPhone, Mac and Android. Windows is a separate LumaBooth subscription, and it is the one platform where the two products are not really comparable.
One to check for yourself if you shoot Sony. Sony does not permit tethered video capture on iOS, which is why neither LumaBooth for Apple nor Snappic records video or boomerangs from a Sony. Touchpix lists Sony bodies among its compatible cameras but, unlike Simple Booth and Snappic, does not publish which capture modes work per camera, so we will not tell you either way. Ask them before you buy.
What we can tell you is that LumaBooth for Windows records video on Sony, on any tethered body, and Touchpix's booth app is documented for iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Android.
LumaBooth for Android uses built-in tablet and phone cameras for photo, 360, slow motion, GIF, video and video guest book. Both apps connect to a GoPro wirelessly. dslrBooth pairs over Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi and supports GoPro 5 through 13, but only on Windows. Touchpix does it on iOS and Android, so if your 360 rig is driven by an iPad, that is the one that fits.

Both apps run some AI on the device and bill for the rest. Lumping it into one row is how comparisons get this wrong.

The offline half is close, with one difference each way. Both replace backgrounds on the device with no green screen and no signal. Touchpix adds on-device face replacement onto pre-designed avatars, which we do not have an equivalent for. If that specific effect is what you sell, buy Touchpix.
The generative half is closer than most comparisons admit. Both need a connection, both have custom prompts, and both are metered. We have 170+ presets against their 80+, and we write each guest's answers into the artwork rather than pasting them on top.
On price the difference is the shape, not the size. LumaBooth is a flat $0.10 and one portrait is always one charge. Touchpix works out at $0.12 on the small credit pack and $0.098 on the large one, but some advanced styles consume more than one credit, so the cost per image moves with the style your guests pick. A 200-guest event is $20 on LumaBooth whatever they choose. On credits it depends on the night.
Sharing, Galleries and Business Tools
Both work offline. Touchpix shares by SMS, AirDrop, QR and a download TV display. LumaBooth shares by email, SMS, AirDrop, QR, WhatsApp and Instagram, and every event gets a branded online gallery through fotoShare Cloud. Switching from Touchpix, Honestly
The price is never what stops people. Losing a weekend to rebuilding templates is.
What carries over untouched:
- Your iPad or Android tablet
- Your 360 platform
- Your DSLR

What you actually have to redo: your print layouts. There is no import path between photo booth apps, not between any two of them, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Your designs have to be rebuilt in our layout designer.
- Start on the free trial. It is unlimited and only watermarks photos, so you can rebuild and rehearse a full event without paying anything or cancelling your Touchpix plan.
- Rebuild your two or three most-used layouts first. Most operators run a handful of designs over and over. Do those, not the whole library. Or start from one of our 820 designs, each of which already ships with ten print layouts, a matching welcome screen and overlays.
- Run one real event on both. Keep your existing setup as the backup for a single booking. Nobody should switch software cold on a wedding.
- Ask in the group. 81,400 operators are in our two Facebook communities, and a good number of them have made exactly this move. Post a photo of your existing layout and someone will tell you how they rebuilt it.

Does LumaBooth work without internet?
Capture, printing, sharing and AI background replacement all work offline. Sessions queue and upload when you are back online. AI Portraits are the exception and need a connection.

Touchpix publishes a Windows and Linux download, but its own product pages describe the booth as iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Android, and its DSLR workflow lists those four platforms only. LumaBooth for Windows is a full booth app with tethered Canon, Nikon, Sony and GoPro support, and has shipped continuously since 2012.

The Group Chat Alone Is 81,400 Operators
Software is the part you can compare on a table. This is the part you feel at 11pm when the printer stops.
To be clear about that number: 81,400 is how many operators are in our two official Facebook groups. It is not our user count, which is a good deal larger. It is simply the part you can go and count for yourself, which is why we use it.
Ask a question in the Windows group at 2am and someone in Manila answers before someone in Chicago wakes up. That is not a support policy, it is tens of thousands of operators who have already run the event you are about to run. Our own team is US-based with people spread across the time zones, so a Saturday night in any country is a working day for somebody.
